SUMMARY:Making Tax Digital for homeopaths – what’s changing and how to prepare
DESCRIPTION:With Rebecca MacKellar AATQB of Red Tag Bookkeeping & Training Services \nSociety members join Rebecca for a lunchtime chat, with a focused presentation of around 30-40 minutes followed by a Q&A session.\nThe workshop is designed to be practical and easy to digest and will also include a real life perspective from a homeopath who has successfully implemented MTD IT, sharing their experience and lessons learned.\nKey HMRC deadlines will be explained, helping you understand what’s changing, what it means for yourvpractice, and how to prepare with confidence.\nAbout Rebecca\nAfter a career in the British Army, Rebecca swapped life in uniform for life in the Highlands, moving to Grantown-on-Spey in 1999 to run an outdoor centre and accommodation business. It was a huge change of pace and one that sparked a whole new direction.\nWhile running that first business, she found herself drawn to creating efficient administrative systems. That interest grew into a skill, and before long, she’d also started a second business serving holiday homes, local residents, and businesses across the Cairngorms. Managing the books of both businesses every day gave her a real taste for finance, and in 2020, RedTag Bookkeeping & Admin Services was born.\nOn discovering XERO cloud accounting software, Rebecca knew she wanted to help other business owners take control of their own accounts. After two years of part-time study during COVID, Rebecca qualified as a bookkeeper with the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) and hasn’t looked back since, having progressed to nearly completing her diploma in professional accounting.  Along the way, she’s had some great mentors;“You need to learn how to do your own accounts” (from her husband) and so her first accountant helped to organise a tutor.\nRebecca currently supports self-employed clients through changes in legislation, such as Making Tax Digital for Income Tax Self Assessment (MTD ITSA) from April 2026.
